Heavy-Duty Plastic Pieces with Unique Curved Hinges
Unlike traditional jigsaw puzzles, the Ravensburger Eiffel Tower 3D puzzle is made of sturdy plastic pieces that will never delaminate or peel and hold together firmly once interlocked. The corner pieces feature uniquely curved hinges that allow you to create the defined edges and trademark shape of the Eiffel Tower. Our testing team found that once the hinged pieces are folded over, they stay that way. However, some of them were a bit hard to bend, so younger children may need some help.
The inside of each piece is numbered and labeled with a directional arrow. Our testing team found this feature helpful to make the puzzle easy and fun without being frustrating, although, serious puzzle solvers will not be challenged. For more of a challenge, the builder can choose not look at the numbers. Although the box indicates that this puzzle is intended for ages 10 and up, this puzzle is not so complicated that a younger child couldn"t put it together without assistance.
Finished Puzzle Becomes a Stylish Statue
Once the puzzle has been assembled, the finished product is a handsome decoration. The tower is divided into three sections, separated with plastic buffers so they stack easily. This three-section design also makes moving the tower easy with little-to-no danger of it breaking.
While the tower stands true and the base seems sturdy, our testers found that even a moderate bump would send the top of the tower tumbling over, as it does not connect to the lower sections of the tower with any real grip. The pieces themselves, however, stay connected remarkably well, holding true Ravensburger"s claim that this model requires no glue to stay together. The only downside to this is the matter of disassembling the puzzle if you want to store it away or build it again–getting the pieces to separate again definitely takes a little elbow grease.
